Can you match the color of new hardwood to existing floor/ staircase?
Sure we can. Though it is almost impossible to the same or perfectly matching color - but realy very close. That is why a Customer should pre-approve the stain test on hardwood beofre we can proceed with finishing.
Do you deal with sound-proofing foam?
There are different types of sound-proof underlayments which can reduce a noise from the floating floor. As a rule this is used when floating floor is the only option in the apartment. We can install cork (one of the best sound-proofing underlayment), fiberglass, felt, etc/ All of them will be more than enough not to disturb your neighbours downstairs.
Do you do demolition of carpet or exisiting hardwood?
Yes, we do carpet demolition, demolition of the exisitng hardwood floor and baseboard. We can take the mentioned garbage to waste disposal site.
How long does it take to install a staircase?
Every single project is unique should be estimated individually. There is no fixed price as well as definite time for staircase installation. Generally a staircase might take about a week or more to install and finish.
When should I confirm a quote acceptance to schedule a job?
You should do it as soon as you make your decision to go with us. It will give us some extra space in schedule to find a best time for you to fulfill the job and to avoid any delays in project completion. If you are not sure when exactly you would like the job to be started you should at least inform us about the approx. time you are to make your decision so that we can put your project in waiting list.
Can I stay in the house while hardwood refinish?
No, you can not walk on the floor untill the final coat of finish is applied. In some cases a company specialist may let you walk in some arears or while certain stages. Please ask before you walk or you can ruin the job.
Do you give a free estimate?
Yes, we give free estimates Monday -Saturday 8 am to 4 pm. Please call to make an appointment.
What are my payments options?
For sanding/refinishing jobs we required a 1/2 down on the 1st day of work and the rest when completion. For installation if we are buying the wood floors we required 1/2 down when scheduling the job. We accept checks made out to Aprel Flooring Inc. or cash.
Engineered or solid hardwood?
Engineered products, available in Planks, Strips are manufactured of hardwood using a cross-directional laminated construction (3 to 5 layers), with a top layer of premium hardwood. This construction counteracts the natural tendency of wood to expand and contract with seasonal changes in temperature and humidity, making engineered products inherently dimensionally stable. Solid products, available in Planks, Strips or Parquet, are manufactured from a solid piece of wood.
What Is the advantage of engineered products over solid products?
In general, engineered products can be installed in any room in the home, whether on-grade, below-grade or above-grade. Engineered products can be nailed down, glued-down or stapled down, depending upon the situation. Engineered product, can be glued down, stapled down or some can be "floated" over most subfloors without the use of nails or adhesives, making it ideal for remodeling. Solid products are not recommended for below grade installations and must be nailed or stapled down.
